Blog Site Moved to Windows Azure

A few months of very hard work from the ADXSTUDIO CMS product team and excellent technology from Microsoft has culminated in me moving my blog site to Windows Azure hosting.  Moving to Windows Azure has been an exciting adventure.  I moved my site to Windows Azure because I believe in the Azure platform and believe that it is going to have a very substantial impact on the market in the coming years.

This site is powered by ADXSTUDIO CMS version 7.0 which is the first web content management system to support Windows Azure as a hosting platform.  This blog site is not just a simple blogging engine - if it were, I would have moved it over a couple of months ago.  The site uses the structured blogging template in ADXSTUDIO CMS and demonstrates that the CMS runs beautifully in the cloud.  ADXSTUDIO CMS is architected so that you can build once and deploy anywhere, whether to your internal servers, on a hosting partner's data center, or now on Microsoft's cloud platform running Windows Azure.  The power of choice is liberating!

This site is also tied to SQL Data Services (SDS), as the CMS uses SDS as one of the data servers.  The CMS still retains the ability to use SQL Server for on-premises or partner-hosted scenarios, but now also supports SDS for Azure deployments.

I want to thank everyone in Microsoft that had a part in bringing us Azure and SQL Data Services.  Special mention goes to Ben Riga, Ryan Dunn and David Aiken for all their efforts and encouragement.  I would also like to give credit to all the Microsoft engineers that are answering questions in the discussion forums.  The turnaround on questions and support issues in those forums has been unbelievable.  I look forward to seeing the rest of the cloud platform come into line with Azure and to experience the possibilities of hooking all the various services together.
